Level off at 9 billion in 2050 Muslims projected to be nearly 13 Global population growth rates 2008 These areas are resource rich, especially in oil and gas Middle easterners and Africans are growing the most, northerners are not.  Strategic Oil elipse With about 70% of the world oil reserves, and 65% of world natural gas  reserves Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, all in the elipse…suspicious.  Canada is actually the top oil supplier to the U.S., Mexico is second. We’re  not that interested in Mexico, but its reserves might be shallow, and they’re  using more of it themselves.  Iraq North Kirkuk o 500,000 to 800,000 barrels per day capacity  o has often been unable to export because of pipeline sabotage  o Sunni area, locals not happy with U.S.
