Nutri Sci notes 10/22 14:58 Types of exercise Aerobic o Increase oxygen demand o Rhythmic, repetitive use of large muscle groups o Increase in breathing o Increase in energy expenditure o Elevated heart rate=cardiovascular strengthening o Increase Cardiovascular benefits Strength o Large resistance applied to isolated muscle groups o Build muscle mass Lean body mass Increases BMR (related to lean body mass) Fat mass is not metabolically active, it takes a lot to maintain lean  mass Not burning as much calories Principle of training Applying stress  Rest-recovery-adaptation (rest and recovery creates an adaptation so that the  next time your body goes through the exercise stress it will be able to do it) Creating progress=more stress-more rest/recovery-more adaptation Need to make sure that rest/recovery is applied otherwise the adaptation will  not occur and you wont get the benefits from the exercise
