Objectives for Endocrine System 1. Identify the location of all the major endocrine organs in the human body. Hypothalamus: Brain Pituitary gland: Brain Pineal Gland: Brain Thymus: Chest (below Thyroid) Thyroid Gland: Neck (bowtie) Parathyroid glands: Neck (outside of thyroid) Heart: middle of chest Kidney: mid-stomach Adrenal Glands: mid-stomach (behind/on top of kidney) Digestive Tract: mid-stomach Pancreatic islets: below stomach Adipose Tissue: next to stomach Gonads: in testis Ovaries: next to uterus 2. Provide another name for the anterior and posterior pituitary glands and list all the hormones by their full name (and the commonly used abbreviations) made each region of the pituitary gland. Provide a general function of each hormone.
