Today’s goal- introduce things besides reasons and arguments that people use to influence our attitudes. Rhetoric- broad term for the means that are used when people want to persuade us with any nonargumental. Do not od, they don’t make an argument stronger. Slanters- device give a slant (Ex. Euphemism “ethnic cleansing” “freedom fighters”. Dysphemism- produce a negative emotional effect or to damage the attidue. Rhetoriacal analogy- likens one thing to something else in order totry and produce positive or negative feelings about the thing.
