THIS MAY NOT BE THE SAME AS THE LONGEST CONTINUOUS CHAIN THAT CONTAINS THE MOST C ATOMS!!! 2) Number the parent chain to give the first double bond encountered the lowest number possible. Position(s) of double bond(s) precedes root in name. 3) As usual, indicate positions of substituents with numbers 4) ane suffix changes to ene suffix. If more than one double bond is present in the parent chain, use a modifer such as di, tri, tetra, etc. to indicate the total number of double bonds in the parent chain....
