Jeff Phang 992268154 11/04/2008 Executive Summary Multi Cultural Meeting October 30, 2008 The goal of the presentation was to broaden the definition and diversity. It was conducted by Moria Delgado from the Cross Cultural Center in an effort to expose the less obvious aspects of cultural differences and improve communication and intercultural tolerance. We began by defining culture as the behavior, values, and customs that are passed on and learned to each generation. Culture is unique to each individual and at times it can lead to a misunderstanding between people. Because of this a brief framework was established to encourage communication and openness. The acronym “REACH” was used to foster an environment within the group that would R espect each others’ opinions, E ncourage each other to share, A llow for mistakes, insure C onfidentiality and finally to H ave an open mind and have fun. To show just how diverse UC Davis as a campus is, Delgado presented statistics of the student body as a whole. The school serves as host to students from all the states in the United States except for West Virginia. Students from 115 countries around the world
