To figure out if they act as shallow water waves or deep water waves one must know the wavelength of the wave. If the ocean the wave is in is deeper than one half of the wavelength then it is a deepwater wave, if it is not then it is a shallow water wave. Taking this into consideration Tidal bulges(or waves) have a wavelength approximately one half of the circumference of the earth. This is a very long distance measured in many hundreds of kilometers. According to the dynamic theory of the tides proposed by Laplace in 1775, for a Tidal bulge to move at its full speed as a deep water wave would do the ocean would need to be 13.7 miles deep, which is deeper than any part of the ocean. Thus tidal bulges are forced to act like shallow water waves affected by the ocean floor, which will determine its speed. 4.) The new period of the M 2 lunar semi-diurnal tide will decrease due to the decrease in the number of days it takes the moon to rotate around the earth. This causes the period to decrease slightly from its original point. 5.) “Mean Lower Low Water” is the zero-tide level of that particular region. The zero-tide level
