Sociology chapter 1 28/01/2008 13:16:00 The sociological perspective What is sociology? o Systematic study of human society  Using scientific method to look at situation  Characteristics of sociology  o Sociology is regarded to be a science Most important way to look at it Must follow organized ways to observe Obligated to share our research  o Is also a social science  Use methods developed in natural science to observe behaviors Natural sciences are much neater not a lot of change  o Is concerned with the study of human social behavior How do we interact  The global perspective o Societies around the world are becoming more interconnected  o Social problems are universal May vary a little  Problems tend to be the same o Gives us further insight into our own culture
