Race and Judaism 2/8/09 In Michael Banton’s Racial Theories , the idea of race as a status is discussed. The effects of whites on blacks and the effects of blacks on whites in social situations is looked at from the aspect of caste and class; how they work together and how they contradict each other. In every aspect of racial relations as class and caste there are always the superior and the inferior, where one lies in this social order is debatable depending on which system is used and which class you ask. In all forms of social order, one group is gaining and one group is losing. Dollard proposed that in class specifications of social order, middle class whites gain in three ways at the expense of blacks. In an economic sense, whites get more monetary gain from their work than blacks do. In sexual matters, the white man has the upper hand in that he can choose between both white and black women whereas a black man cannot.
