Method for finding approx value of Pi, trig problems, studying the sky (regarding tianming, they had to know what was normal in order to know what was abnormal), astronomical clock (water clock tower) (century ahead of anything existing in Eu), Sciences of the earth, alchemy, chemistry, geometry, compass, surveying catrhography, mining Daoist fields of inquiry and their consequences e.g. alchemy/chem. Lead to discovery of explosives, gun power geomancy leads to discovery
