Detailed Outline for Written Assignment This assignment is meant o bring focus and attention to your own physical, psychological, and social development. Individuals are affected by their immediate environment soon after birth. While born with certain characteristics, traits, strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, etc., it is our environment that allows these “ready made” aspects of personality to unfold. Hopefully, this exercise will broaden your understanding of some of the factors that influenced you and the person that you are today. For parts of this assignment you will need to ask your mother, father, grandparents, or other caregivers who were involved in your immediate care for some of the details you will need to write about. Each section is provided with a page number from the text. Go to that page and read the paragraph(s) that pertains to each section. Answer the questions as they pertain to your experience. Feel free to provide as much detail as you want and do not feel constrained by structure provided for you. In other words, this paper is about you and I would expect that your personality would come through in how you express yourself in writing. Thus, please write in a first person voice, as if you were having a conversation with someone. Please include a cover page that includes your name, class title, and date. Pages should be numbered on the bottom right hand side of the page. A missing cover page, missing page numbers, misspelled words, poor syntax and poor sentence construction will result in the loss of a full letter grade, regardless of the content. It is not necessary to include a reference page since you will only be using the classroom text as a source. Chapter 6 – Psychosocial Development / Age birth to 3 years Temperament – Table 6-2 (199) ” “easy child” “difficult child” “slow-to-warm-up child Read the descriptions on the table and ask about the kind of temperament you had as an infant / baby. Your caretakers will know in which category you fall in. Write about how they describe you as a baby. Do you feel that description (temperament) also fits with who you are today? Earliest Social Experiences – The Infant in the Family (201)
