When you save your work, please remember to rename the TH file by adding your last and first name. For example : TH1-SmithJ 3. All assignments must be done using MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD. If used, EXCELL and STATDISK work can be copy and pasted directly into WORD . 4. Submit your work as an attachment into the TH1 Assignment folder by midnight Sunday. So far so good! To do this homework assignment you will need Elementary Statistics using EXCEL and your Student’s Solutions Manual which comes with the text and a calculator. There is a calculator on your computer. You can access this calculator by selecting START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, CALCULATOR. Some of the questions included in this assignment and other assignments will come from the ODD numbered questions in your text. The answers for the odd numbered questions are at the back of the text and also presented in more detail in the Student’s Solutions Manual. The reason for including them in the homework assignments is so that I know that you have worked through the examples and can present the information appropriately in a WORD program. All the other questions will be EVEN numbered. If you have any difficulty with any of these questions, please feel free to drop a line in “Ask the Prof ” Each question represents the corresponding question in your text. 1-2-3 for example represents question 3 in Chapter section 1-2. Answer the questions in the blocks provided. The blocks will expand as you write. Use sentences whenever possible to fully explain your thoughts. For example, if an answer is Yes or No, always explain WHY to obtain full credit for your answers. Chapter 1-2 (15 points) Be sure to answer the question and then give your reasoning to the right of the answer for questions 1-2-7 to 1-2-20. 1-2-3 Discrete data Result when numbers of possible value are countable numbers.
