Caitlin McCurdy November 16, 2006 Reflection Essay Jesus is portrayed throughout the Gospels as an unattractive being to society. As believers in the world today, it is important look beyond the image of Jesus that was so freely taught about in the past, and delve deeper into the true meaning of who He is revealed as while being human on the earth. Jesus’ most attractive attribute to me personally is His ability to bring the utmost glory and honor through the most shameful circumstance in life. His great supremacy overcomes all occurrences of disgrace. In John 19:19, we read about the sign Pilate had nailed to the cross reading, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS”. This sign is another example of the dishonorable death Jesus endured for our sake. We know that the cross not only symbolizes pain, but great shame as well. Jesus suffered this harsh death to cover all the sin brought forth by this world, yet Jesus still conquered this shame with honor and glory. Jesus’ example and representation of this reprehensible death demonstrates His true majesty and radiant
