Basgier Spring 2008 REX Six: The Method Looking for Patterns of Repetition and Contrast WA 44-51 The assignment (due Monday, March 17 th ): this REX asks you to perform the Method on the newspaper article you have chosen for Paper 2. Follow these steps: 1. After you have chosen your newspaper article, you should read through it, looking for repetitions, strands, binaries, and anomalies. Highlight and label the words and phrases you find in these steps. You will provide this highlighted and labeled copy of the article to me along with your typed REX. 2. Type up the first four steps as usual. 3. For your paragraph in step five, you should, as usual, discuss one of the repetitions, strands, contrasts, or anomalies. Make sure to keep in mind strategy six on page 307 of WA: incorporate actual quotes to illustrate the repetition, strand, binary, or anomaly at work in the article. Perform 10 on 1 on this detail, using it to develop what you take to be the article’s “pitch.” A useful way to generate multiple claims might be to perform the steps of Uncovering
