Generating a Paper 2 Thesis Using 10 on 1 1. Read the newspaper article and make a list of observations. These observations should use the Method (strands, binaries, repetitions, anomalies), Notice & Focus (details you find interesting or strange), and Tools for Visual Analysis (vectors, perspective, etc.). 2. Pick your best observation from the list above and do a little “10 on 1”: “This detail might suggest . . .” (Try to come up with 5-10 statements). 3. Using your 10 on 1 work from Step 2, determine the pitch of the newspaper article. What does the author want you to believe? Make sure to take into account the work you did in Step 2 so that you steer away from general obvious claims—do we need the article to believe it? We should. 4. Return to the brainstorming work you’ve done with the photograph. Write down all the observations (Method, Notice & Focus, Visual Analysis) from the photo
