Lifespan (US) o Male – 74.4 o Female – 79.8 o Both – 77.2 o Health and wellness are mu Chapter 5 Overload Principle o Doing more than normal is necessary for fitness benefits to occur Progression o Overload in exercise, should not be Specificity o Must exercise in accordance with what you are trying to achieve Reversibility o “You don’t use it, you lose it.” o Atrophy-reversibility in the extreme. Dose Response o The larger the dose of physical activity the greater the benefit. Diminishing Returns o As you become fitter, benefits fitness gains become smaller and harder to achieve. F.I.T. o Frequency-how often you should do a certain type of exercise in a week? o Intensity-How hard should I exercise? o Time-How long (minutes) should I exercise?
