Katherine Loh April 24, 2008 Music 106: History of Jazz Jazz Concert Review Many jazz bands played at the fine arts center concert hall at the University of Rhode Island on Tuesday April 22, 2008. The two bands that I enjoyed the most were the first two bands that played. The first was the URI Jazz Hue Notes and the second were the URI Jazz Standards Combo . These two bands were very good with their pitches and they also had a really good beat. What I found interesting about these two bands is that they didn’t have a conductor conducting them. When I was in band and chorus, I always had someone conducting me play and sing. I thought the two bands did a great job staying on beat and staying together throughout the whole piece. The URI Jazz Hue Notes consisted of 9 members. I noticed when each musician had a solo, they were always jamming out to the song, which I thought was really cool and got me into it. My favorite musician definitely had to be the bass player, because he looked like he was always having a good time, where the other members didn’t look so energetic.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
