David Navarro May 29, 2006 Dr. Gilbert R. Cadena EWS 280 Journal #5 After volunteering hours for Service Learning, I found it useful to grow as a person and to also have the opportunity to reach out to the community. I had the chance to help kids out and impact them in one way or another. It was fulfilling to tutor kids and leave the site knowing that I had helped a kid do better in school. Most of these kids do not have the luxury like other kids in wealthy communities to have their parents help them with their homework. These kids attend schools that do not always have qualified teachers. Also, the surroundings in which the schools are situated on are often dangerous. I had the opportunity to listen to these kids, and I came to the conclusion that all of the kids have the potential to do great things, but it is that their parents do not have the time to help them flourish their talents. I observed and had the opportunity to see that “Basically it takes like to reach like: youth to reach youth; blacks to reach blacks; Catholics to reach Catholics” (p. 185).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
