Unformatted text preview: Anthropology August 30, 2007 Evolution and diversity Biology- needed a change in how we thought about species. It was originally thought that god created us and that we did not change. Things did not adapt, everything stayed the same which lead us to recognize that there was a great diversity. Geology- *needed of a revision of how we see the world. Philosophy- *needed to be a major change in how we see things of our self in nature. Erasmus Darwin- (1731-1802) was a popularize in science. He wrote poetry and influenced the common poets. Poems about botany. He pointed out the evolutionary theory. He felt that some organisms had traits that allowed them to succeed over others. Grandfather of Charles Darwin. Charles Darwin (1809- ) had an interest in sports. His father was worried about him and shipped him to medical school when he was sixteen because he had no future(father) Charles and his older brother went to Cambridge University. He was not really into medicine, he was just squeamish. Could not tell his dad that he didnt want to be a doctor, so he remained in school to study the outdoors.
