Tim Beachy – A04 Chapter 22 1. What are four questions a good consumer might ask when a doctor orders a test, treatment, or medication? How successfully and often had he done this, side effects, overnight stay or just go home, and why is he ordering this. (Donatelle, 2008, p. 648) 2. Define spontaneous remission. It is when symptoms leave without treatment or cause. (Donatelle, 2008, p. 645) 3. Define self-advocacy. Self-advocacy is promoting one’s self. (Donatelle, 2008, p. 645) 4. Define placebo effect. It’s when a substance with no value “cures” something or appears to. (Donatelle, 2008, p. 645) 5. State what is meant by "self-care". When one knows their body, listens to it, and acts accordingly, it is self-help. (Donatelle, 2008, p. 645) 6. Define allopathic medicine . It is conventional medicine, practiced in the western world that is loosely based on scientific evidence. (Donatelle, 2008, p. 656) 7. Differentiate between a M.D. and D.O . AnM.D. is a doctor of medicine, while a D.O. is an osteopathic doctor.
