Teran 1 Luis Teran Professor Purugganan ENG 125 August 8, 2016 Willy Loman: The American Dream Throughout centuries the American Dream has been one of the most talked about subjects across the country. Many people have their own way of explaining their American Dream. One way that someone could explain the American Dream would be through the point of view of immigration to give their kids a better life than they used to in their home country. Others may describe the American Dream would be by making something of themselves, even if it means forcing themselves to do something they do not like what it is. Arthur Miller says that while people are trying to pursue the American Dream, they are selling themselves and are trying to find success. In Arthur Miller’sDeath of a Salesman, we can see that description of the American Dream. Arthur Miller depicts Willy Loman as a someone who is trying to seek the American Dream and while he is pursuing this dream, he seems to be sacrificing his family for work so that they can live a better life and so his family know that he is doing all that for them. Willy is the provider of the family and he get irritated when he finds out that his kids are not successful after all the work he put in to help them out. He is specially irritated with Biff because he does not have a secure job and his wage is not enough to support himself. Towards the end he changes his mind about Biff and says “
