For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had one birthday wish. Not the wish you make when you blow out the candles, but the wish you just have that will just make your birthday perfect. The years my birthday wish came true, I’d have to wake up a little earlier than normal to help my dad. I’d have to leave for school a little earlier so I can drive slower. And I’d have to put on a few more layers before I leave my house. But it’s all worth it for the fluffy white stuff. That beautiful, cold, slippery, white snow is all I can think about when I go to bed on December fifth and the first thing I think about when I wake up on my birthday. Actually, it’s all I can think of during the whole winter. I mean, no one sings about a green Christmas. I love snow. Snow is my best winter friend [personification] . When I pull open my curtains to see a fresh white blanket [metaphor] on the sidewalk, my heart beats a little faster. I drive down my street and see snow swaying [alliteration] along with the tree branches they cling to and it makes me smile. Snow is like the marshmallow in my hot chocolate [simile] . It’s the whipped cream on my apple pie
