Non-melanoma skin cancer (C44.9)- these cancers include basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), they are two of the most common forms of skin cancer. Both ofthese cancers if left untreated can grow wide and deep destroying skin tissue and bone, they could also get infected or cause disfigurement (AAD, 2013).Rational- Jim is a smoker which puts him at a higher risk for cancers in general and works outside as a roofer which puts him at risk for sun damage, furthering his risk for skin cancer.Seborrheic keratosis (L82.1)- is a non-cancerous skin growth that appears in middle-aged and older adults. They start small and grow in size with a waxy/warty feel, ranging in color from white, tan, black or brown (AAD, 2016). Rational- Jimmy is a middle aged man; he may be developing seborrheic keratosis.
