The movie begins in Vermont where Will, a New York book editor, is driving home and ends up hitting a wolf and getting bit by it. When he arrives back in New York, not only does his boss demote him, but his protégé; Stewart Swinton takes his job as well as his wife. At the same time, he is beginning to possess wolf-like qualities, such as a newfound aggression, hunger, amazingly heightened senses, and a very strong sexual appetite. He uses these new attributes to help attain his job back. Things start to look up for Will Randall; he’s got his job back, he’s dating the boss’s daughter; Laura, and he feels more energized than ever. However, when nightfall begins, Randall turns into a werewolf and hunts for human blood. Unknowingly, he ends up killing his wife in the middle of the night, biting Stewart, and killing several other victims. The police try to trace Randall to his wife’s killing, but after a DNA sampling, only canine blood is found.
