Instructions
Please read these instructions carefully.
When you start working in a school, you may be required to attend an induction. This
assessment covers many things commonly found in inductions, such as safety
concepts, laws, regulations, policies, child protection, and general expectations.
Assessment requirements
Each theory assessment aims to ensure that students have sufficient background
knowledge to perform the tasks and activities expected by schools.
To complete this assessment, you will need to complete the following:
1. 5 quizzes.
2. A series of short-answer responses.
Submitting your assessment
Assessments can only be submitted via the online assessment link in your portal. We
no longer accept hardcopy or emailed assessments. Note that the assessment section
of your portal does not support mobile phone devices.
Once a quiz has been completed, the relevant question in the online assessment will
be automatically marked as complete. Please read the quiz instructions carefully.
Hint: We provide all assessments in MS Word and PDF. MS Word is recommended.
However, students commonly use free word processing software such as LibreOffice.
After submitting an assessment, a trainer will mark your responses (usually within 5-7
days, however, please allow longer for peak periods). In the meantime, you may start
the next topic. Please read the section called ‘Marking process’ in your Course Guide.

Email is preferred because trainers often work with other students, e.g., teaching a
class or assessing a student in a school. We encourage all students to attend our
regular live webinars.
While we may contact students from time to time, adult learners are expected to be
proactive in managing their learning. Please let us know if you need assistance; we are

Writing ‘good’ answers
Before starting each assessment, please read the Course Guide's section ‘Determining
the expected standard’ . A common reason for resubmissions is students not reading
or following this advice. The Course Guide provides examples, and this will give you an
indication of our expectations in terms of length and detail.
