P a g e | 2 Word Count = 786I. The Purpose of Sociology I see sociology as being a practical science that is shaped by the always changing functions of society. Different economic, moral, and political views of society are aspects of sociology. These aspects of the public are used to generalize the knowledge of society, which is sociology. Sociologists are the people who ask how and why and seek to provide answers and explanations for why the world works differently for different groups of people. Sociologists bring the social barriers that prevent people from reaching equality to the world’s attention. The study can also better point the way in which the social organization can more effectively adapt itself to the changing conditions of life. In other words, the betterment of the nature of society is the purpose of sociology. II. Applied Sociological Theories Sociological theories are used to explain and work efficiently in solving social problems. Sociologists also use theory to better understand the mechanics of society. In order to improve theoretical development, sociologists examine, or research, the social world for patterns. While all theories and aspects of sociology are important, there are some that are
