Jessica Holmes South University Online Human Pathophysiology BIO2015, W4A1 Mr. Wilko is very inaccurate in his self-assessment. From the passage it appears he has started drinking every chance he can get and has alcohol on his breathe when returning to work. Mr. Wilko’s stressors involve the economic down turn, the possibility of being fired due to his sales performance, his children demanding money, and his finances. Mr. Wilko uses alcohol to deal with his stressors. Mr. Wilko is at risk of damaging his liver cells which could lead to cirrhosis of the liver. The liver will go through to stages to develop cirrhosis of the liver. The first stage is fatty- liver where the liver builds up extra fat cells. (Alcohol-Related Liver Disease, January 20,2015). The second is alcohol hepatitis, where the liver begins to swell causing damage. Thirdly, alcohol cirrhosis is the scarring of the liver, this is due to hard scar tissue replacing soft healthy tissue. 10 and 20 percent of heavy drinkers develop cirrhosis of the liver.
