The Columbian Exchange I have decided to do my analyzation of information over the Columbian Exchange. I find the circulation of food, diseases, and ideas to be one of the most important events in history that shaped the outcome of many different lives on multiple continuants. For my first analyzation, I went to the Smithsonian website to provide the information on the Columbian exchange that I would dissect. On this page , Megan Gambino talks with the Author of the book The Columbian Exchange Alfred W. Crosby. This article represents more of a question, and answer based dialog and not your typical writing over the authors work. Megan asks Alfred how he went about his research and his reply was “it was quite simple I had no idea that I would be revolutionizing historiography.” He didn’t have to read the original Spanish manuscripts because he said there is some excellent translation. Alfred's book contained six articles that support his claims and helped him to coin the term Columbian Exchange. Considering Columbus arrived in 1492 and began the chain of events leading to the Columbian Exchange many historians have overlooked these key events. Many times the ones who comes up with revolutionary theories aren’t around anymore to share their thoughts but since this is, in reality, a new concept we were able to read first hand of his inspiration into writing his book. In the article Alfred even talks about how hard it was even to get his book published. However, once a small publishing firm took a chance on him, it has been in production ever since. Megan had written countless articles for the Smithsonian and before that she worked for the Outsider in New Mexico. In this article, she has apparently read his book
