Julian Bryant Beckwith Psy18 09/18/16 Quiz #1 1. What are the differences among monozygotic twins, dizygotic twins, other siblings, and clones? Monozygotic twins are twin organisms that originate from one zygote that splits apart very early in development and share the same genetic information. Dizygotic twins, also called fraternal twins, are twin organisms that originate from two separate ova fertilized by two separate sperm cells at roughly the same time. They share about half their genetic material, like any siblings do. A clone is an organism that has exactly the same genotype as another already living organism. 2. Since almost all fetuses born at 30 weeks survive, why don’t women avoid the last month of pregnancy by having an elective cesarean at that time? Although babies of 30 weeks may survive, it does not mean they are born fully mature and in the best condition. During the last month the baby is gaining weight, and the brain, lungs, and heart are maturing to assure survival of 99 percent of full-term babies.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
