Korean Traditional Painting and Calligraphy Extra Credit
This reflection essay is called Korean Traditional Painting and Calligraphy. This meeting
is hosted by Dr. Song and he will introduce us to the paintings and calligraphy through the work
of Kim Chong-Hui. Dr. Koo will also explain his journey with Korean traditional art and art
education. Later on, Dr. Song demonstrates basic Korean calligraphy.
Calligraphy is a tradition art that is still practiced in modern times. Calligraphy defines a
person. A piece of calligraphy work reveals everything about a writer in that single moment. The
tools used to draw a calligraphy uses a writing brush, inkstone, ink stick, and traditional Korean
paper. Kim Jeong Hui is a quite famous person throughout his life. He was recongnized by
Chinese intellectuals. In calligraphy, they usually say that every lines resembles meaning of alive
lines. Kim Jeong Hui has a unique way of making his calligraphy that people think it is beautiful.
