1 Statistics 4710/7710, Introduction to Mathematical Statistics Statistics for Engineers University of Missouri – Fall 2005 Instructor: Dr. John Fresen, 134 N Middlebush Building E-mail: fresenj@missouri.edu Office hours: Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.; or by appointment. Textbook: Milton and Arnold, Introduction to Probability and Statistics, 4 th ed. Prerequisite: Mathematics 2300 (formerly 201) (Calculus III). Evaluation: The plus/minus system of grading will be used (except for graduate students). All exams must be taken at the scheduled time unless evidence of a legitimate, unavoidable problem is presented to your instructor at least 24 hours in advance. Makeup exams and quizzes are never given; in extreme circumstances students that are forced to miss an exam or quiz may be allowed to have their grade computed by re-weighting the other graded items. Exam #1: Two hours (in class) 100 points Exam #2: Two hours (in class) 100 points Final Exam (comprehensive), 150 points Homework, scaled to 50 points Total: 400 points Exam Time Table: The exam time table depends on the sequence a student is attending which is defined by the time at which the class meetings take place. The exam time table is as follows:
