LITR221 Week 8 ForumPart I: Choose a main character in any of the short stories this week. Tell us abouthim or her. Describe the character physically and give us a few adjectives to describe his/her personality, using quotes from the reading as evidence. Would you like this person if you knew him or her? Why or why not. What is the main problem or conflict in the character's life? Do you feel he/she handled the problem well or poorly?I chose Jackson Jackson of Sherman Alexie’s story “What You Pawn I Will Redeem.” First, the name Jackson repeated twice just seems funny to me, and after I got through the stories this week, I knew that he was going to be the topic of my forum post. Jackson Jackson was an older, homeless Native American man who was a Spokane Indian from Spokane, Washington. He has been around the block for a while, and moved to Seattle for college 23 years before the story began, but only attended for two semesters before he failed out. He worked several jobs, married a few times, and had a few kids before he went “crazy” as he said it in the story. He was homeless for 6 years before the story began.
