2Job Performance & Organizational StructureAccording to the society of human resources management organizational structure is themethod by which work flows through an organization. On any given day a business is only asproductive as its processes and its people. Leaders of the organization spend time and resourcestrying to ensure that productivity is being met and when it is not the question the organizationalstructure and wonder if the design is still correct. In today’s business environment leaders arehaving to make quick decisions to compete with the rapid changes. The accelerated pace of newtechnology has disrupted business all around the world and has shifted customer and employeeexpectations (Holbeche, 2019). As an employee, I have personally experienced the frustrations ofworkflow processes. The very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over againbut expecting a different result. Working for the city government can dampen employees'motivation to be creative with outside technological advances. As a consumer of the good werealize we can just easily pay bills online, track packages, get next-day results, and be efficient inour lives. However, in government work workflow processes are very standardized and cannotbe updated as easy to use technology. The government is consistently being criticized forovercomplicating things and making it time-consuming to get anything accomplished. As a cityemployee job performance is negatively impacted by the work environment, dated procedures,and lack of ability to cross-train to other positions.Work EnvironmentThere is nothing worse than heading into a government building. There is a sterile feel, alack of parking, and an overall lack of creativity. Most government employees have littleflexibility in their work schedules. Recently, with the Covid pandemic, government officesrealized some work can be done from home, or an employee can remote into the system and
