Importance of Tourism Market Research Tourism Market Research is incredibly  important – why?  If you’ve got limited marketing dollars, you’ve got  to be sure they are going in the right place,  reaching the right folks Thomas Cook – remember him? 1841: first travel agent/tour operator Conducted market research surveys among  prohibitionists in England in order to encourage  participation in a “dry” trip through England. Later hosted trips to continental Europe, the Holy  Land, and the US.
