Steven Crooks October 16, 2007 SOCI 169 – Changing Family Forms Family Assessment Paper The Wonder Years The Wonder Years is a sitcom television show that took place in the suburbs, in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. The show was about a family, The Arnolds, seen through the eyes of the main character, Kevin, who, throughout the series, develops from an adolescent to an adult. The Arnold family is a nuclear family consisting of a father, Jack, a mother, Norma, and three children, Karen, Wayne, and Kevin. Throughout the series, Jack is a salesman working for a company NORCOM and is the sole provider for his family, making him the breadwinner. Norma is a stay at home mother. She is portrayed to be the traditional housewife of the 1960’s but at the end of the series shows a change that she can financially provide for a family as well. Although she shows a glimpse of the ability to work, she, for the most part, is the nurturer of the family and provides support to all the other family members emotionally and mentally. This also makes Norma the health and safety officer of the family.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
