Jonathan Gebara October 1, 2007 English 105 Honors Guy Talk/Girl Talk Paper The whole idea of “guy talk” and “girl talk” is actually quite fascinating when you think about it . I always knew that there were differences between the two genders obviously and of course these differences would funnel over into basic conversation . When one looks at guy talk versus girl talk it is really a contrast of the male and female psyche and how the differences create a sense of gender identity . The traditional belief goes back to the classic book by John Gray Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus which basically goes into incredible detail about how the sexes are extremely different in nature and understanding the other takes great compromise and patience . The male is seen as being obsessed with what society defines as proper masculine ideals: cars, sports, egos, tools, babes, etc . The female is seen as being obsessed with what society defines as proper feminine ideals: clothes, shoes, their problems, love and relationships, etc . As we can see differences have already risen from such a simple description: guys (in general) are interested in things that interest them while girls (in general) are interested in the thing that interests them: themselves . Women are obsessed with themselves
