Overview
A. Introduce MapWindowGIS.
MapWindow runways, noise contours, aerials, parcels, zones.mwprj
B. Add aerial photographs layer.
C. Add the land parcels layer.
D. Add the zoning layer.
Because all layer files except the Noise-Contours were obtained from Seminole
County government sources, all layers are the same coordinate system. Noise-
Contours were converted to the same system in a previous exercise.
Layer Coordinate System
RunwaysArc_1 NAD_1983_StatePlane_Florida_East_FIPS_0901_Feet
Noise-Contour XY from INM, but transormed to
NAD_1983_StatePlane_Florida_East_FIPS_0901_Feet in a
previous exercise.
Raster images NAD_1983_StatePlane_Florida_East_FIPS_0901_Feet
Parcel NAD_1983_StatePlane_Florida_East_FIPS_0901_Feet
Zoning NAD_1983_StatePlane_Florida_East_FIPS_0901_Feet
E. Prepare map for inquires.
F. Determine parcel information.
G. Determine zoning information.
H. Prepare and deliver the exercise verification.
A. Introduce MapWindowGIS.
1. Download the MapWindow GIS Files for Students.zip file by copying and pasting this
link into your browser address window and Save As to your desktop GIS folder.

Unzip the file.
2. Open the MapWindowGIS program.

This open source program may be obtained from .
3. Open the project, MapWindow runways and noise contours.mwprj , located in your desktop
GIS folder.
4. Review screen layout, icons, and menus. Introduce pan, zoom (extent, previous) and other
useful features.
5. Save project as lastname_SFB_MapWindowGIS.
B. Add aerial photographs layer.
