CNG131-470 Assignment 5 1. Risk management is the process of identifying vulnerabilities, to an organization’s information assets and infrastructure, and taking steps to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability in all components in the organization’s information system. 2. If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. 3. In an organization, it is the responsibility of each community of interest to manage the risks that an organization encounters. Each community of interest has a role to play. - Since the members of the information security community best understand the threats and attacks that introduce risk into the organization, they often take a leadership role in addressing risk. 4. Frequently, organizations implement control mechanisms, but then neglect the necessary periodic review, revision, and maintenance. The policies, education and training programs, and technologies that protect information must be carefully maintained and administered to ensure that they are still effective 5. When analyzing a network from a systems development perspective you only have to concentrate on getting the network up and running.
