Kate Armstrong MGT 111-C March 31 st , 2008 “The Importance of Brands in Marketing” “Branding, a Job Well Done” was written by Dale Buss, and first appeared in the November 1, 2007 issue of BusinessWeek, and “Brands: The Power of Emotion” was written by Steve Mckee and first appeared in the November 8, 2007 issue of Business Week. Buss and Mckee discuss strategies of marketing with brands that exist today. Buss offers a look at deviations from traditional mass-media advertisement that spread the word of brands and companies by empowering employees, whereas Mckee takes an in depth look at the emotional experience and connection that customers feel with various brands. Three companies that are using alternative methods of advertising and succeeding through their methods are Cheesecake Factory, Costco, and The Ritz Carlton Cheescake factory is an example of a company that imposes strict training regiments, but rewards their workers sufficiently creating allies for marketing purposes.
