An outline of daily lecture notes will also be posted. You are encouraged to print these out and bring them to class. Prerequisite : PSCH 242 (Research Methods) Required text: Baron, R. A., Byrne, D., & Branscombe, N. R. (2006). Social psychology (11 th ed.). Allyn & Bacon: Boston. Course overview and objectives: Social psychology is the systematic study of how individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and behavior are shaped through interactions with others. As you’ll see, social psychology is a broad sub-field of psychology, covering such topics as stereotyping and prejudice, persuasion, gender role development, and interpersonal attraction. By the end of the semester, you will be equipped with the tools to provide informed answers to questions such as: How do my moods affect the impressions I form? If I hate Big Business, why am I still buying my coffee at Starbucks? Is prejudice inevitable? How can I convince my mom to buy me a new car? Are more effective decisions made by groups or by individuals? What causes genocide? REQUIREMENTS:
