Zhenyao(Alan) Gao AEP4B Practice essay 18 Sept 2016 The solutions to the food crisis The food crisis of 2008 is becoming a global challenge. In poor countries, people maintain their lives by cutting down on food. Rising food prices have led to unrest in many countries. People are urgent need to solve the food crisis. The article has discussed three solves to the food crisis, such as short, medium and long term. First of all, from the short-term, people need to have the correct world food subsidy program, because a solution does not apply to all countries, such as Bangladesh, the first to solve the problem of security (‘The Silent Tsunami’ 2008). It requires rich countries to be able to take the food crisis seriously and to develop a reasonable new food policy is necessary. So the establishment of the world food program is the biggest guarantee to solve the food crisis. From the medium and long term, the scope of the WFP's ability should be expanded.
