Zhenyao (Alan) Gao AEP 3 Module A Writing Assessment The Pros and Cons of Arranged Marriages Whether it should allow parents to choose their sons or daughters’ marriage partners has been a frequent topic of discussion. Everything has two sides. Arranged marriages also have pros and cons. This essay will introduce what is arranged marriage and discuss pros and cons of arranged marriages. Arranged marriage means the partners of a marriage is not chosen by the young people. Yet an arranged marriage does not have to be forced. Before the eighteenth century arranged marriages were very common in the world (Wikipedia 2016). For example, India, Pakistan and the ancient China are popular arranged marriages. Daisy (2013) states that in the Empire of Roman period, arranged marriages started very early. In the Bible (especially the Old Testament), a lot of arranged marriages can be found. Then arranged marriages have these advantages. The first advantage is the divorce rate is low. This type of marriages often sustains for longer periods of time. Because
