Professor Darling World Civilizations Queen Elizabeth I For my research paper I decided to focus on the famous Queen Elizabeth I. She was a woman of great character and poise, and thus still remains as one of the most influential leaders of all time. Queen Elizabeth was born on Sunday, September 7, 1533 to Queen Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. Her mother was executed shortly after her birth, for the reason of illegitimacy. Queen Anne’s marriage had only been sanctified for seven and a half months, and King Henry VIII was still married to his first wife, Katherine of Aragon. The legitimacy of Elizabeth was questioned for another two and a half years after her birth, but the 1534 Act of Succession confirmed her as the rightful heiress to the throne. by the death of her mother, Queen Anne, in May 1536. For a period of time this incident caused Elizabeth deep grief and trauma at the tender age of three, but it is said that the harsh rulings of her siblings were the cause of such agony. Although her biological mother was absent for the majority of Elizabeth’s life, she felt no void in a maternal figure, due to her nurse Margaret Lady Bryan, who had played the role of a surrogate mother to Elizabeth since she was a baby. i Queen Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. She was a good queen who strived to rule England with peace and integrity. Her counsel of advisors was headed by William Cecil and Baron Burghley.
