Nick Wyatt MUH 218 Review #4 The University of Louisville Jazz Repertory Ensemble gave a great performance on November 13, 2007. This performance took place at 8:00 p.m. in Comstock Hall, which is located in the School of Music on the University of Louisville Campus. Two quartets, under the direction of Ansyn Banks each performed four songs, for a total of eight songs over the course of the concert. The first quartet featured John Bryant on trumpet, Ian Hayes on guitar, Jake Reber on bass, and Aaron Latos on drums. The second quartet featured John Arstingstall on guitar, Amy Hutts on bass, Meg Samples on drums, and Bill Clark on piano. For both quartets, the energy level of the players did not seem very high. Not much more than a few nods of the head or a little bit of foot tapping was observed during the first quartet. The pianist Bill Clark in the second quartet seemed to be dancing around in his seat as he played though, which added a little energy to the performance. Also, each member appeared to be fully immersed in playing his or her part. This showed great
