YEAR 11 BIOLOGY CELLULAR RESPIRATION NAME: 1. State the word and chemical equations for aerobic respiration. Glucose + Oxygen -> carbon dioxide + Water + energy C 6 H 12 O 6 + 6O 2 -> 6CO 2 + 6H 2 O + energy 2. Where in the cell does aerobic respiration take place? Be specific! It begins in the cytoplasm and the latter stages of cellular respiration takes places in the Mitochondria. 3. What does ATP stand for? Adenosine Tri-Phosphate 4. Write an equation for the ATP/ADP cycle. 5. Describe how aerobic respiration results in the production of ATP in a cell. Glucose is broken down and produces energy, which is then used to make a molecule called ATP. 6. State two properties of ATP that make it effective as the energy-carrying molecule in the cell. ATP is water soluble and small and is renewable energy 7. State the word and chemical equation for lactic acid fermentation. Glucose -> Lactic acid + energy C 3 H 12 O 6 -> 2C 3 H 6 O 3 8. In what type(s) of organism does lactic acid fermentation occur?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
