Investigation 4 Diffusion and Osmosis Procedure 3: Observing Osmosis in Living Cells Group Names: Tye Hill, Winter Williams, Kacy Hicks, Emily Baughman, Cecilia Jones, Bob Yeoman, Jessie Wright Important Concepts: - How does the independent variable (concentration of the sucrose) directly affect the dependent variable (mass change)? -What would affect the results and make them inaccurate? Hypothesis : The higher the concentration of the sucrose the higher the mass wil bee after being soaked for the given amount of time. Experimental Model: We chose a physical model for our experiment. Our independent variables are the concentration of the sucrose which lead to the changing of the dependent variable which is the mass change based on the concentration of the sucrose. We hope to learn the actual numerical difference in change in mass before and after the soak in the varying concentrations of sucrose. The controls are the pieces of sweet potato, temperature of the water, mass of each piece of sweet potato, volume and surface area, and the amount of solution in the cups. My hypothesis is that
