Two main types of software Operating System = Controls all of the computers functions Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Unix, etc Applications = Instructions for the computer on how to do certain functions while being controlled by the operating system Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Firefox, Games, iTunes, and tons more
