Biology Notes February 20, 2007 Mature seeds can contain: -lots of endosperm & small cotyledons -little or no endosperm & big fleshy cotyledons -some endosperm that never becomes cellular Stored energy reserves can be important during germination, before autotrophism really gets going. Unlike animals, plants are considered ‘continually embryonic throughout their lifetimes”. In other words, mitosis, cytokinesis and growth continue through time.
