Review for Exam II, ATOC 1050, Spring 2008 The exam is on Friday, March 14. It is worth 100 points. Questions are multiple choice and true/false. It is over chapters 4 – 10, and 13 and the vorticity supplement plus the Hurricane Katrina DVD. (NOTE – Chapters 11 and 12 will NOT be on this exam.) Please bring a #2 pencil as you will be using a scantron. Expect to read charts, maps, and diagrams as well as answer questions over material covered in class. You will NOT be asked questions over material that we didn’t cover in class. You can expect that some questions will be “easy” (if you have attended class and if you have studied) and some will be more difficult. Some call these “tricky” questions. This is a science and I expect you to KNOW the details. My advice to you is to read the questions carefully! Know the following concepts and relationships/definitions: Chapter 4: Accuracy in forecasting severe weather; Numerical weather prediction; How models are gridded, initialized, etc. and the problems with numerical modeling; Scales of models, and
