Economics 104 Spring 2008 Instructor: Harry G. Shaffer Class number: 55569 [email protected] Introduction to Economics (for non majors) Course: This is an introductory course in economics, taught for students who do not intend to major in either economics or business. (Those who do should take Econ 142 and 144) For tests, topics covered, and reading assignments please check Blackboard. Grading: Your grades will be based on your mid-term (30%), your final (30%), a series of quizzes (25%) and your discussion group (5% homework, 5% attendance, 5% participation for a total of 15%). IF you achieve a total grade of 90% or better, you are guaranteed an A, 80-89% a B, 70-79% a C, 60-69% a D, and below that “not so good.” However, these brackets are likely to be adjusted somewhat at the end of the semester. Examinations: The date for the mid-term will be announced at least 10 days in advance; the final will be given Wednesday, May 14 th 1:30 – 4:00 PM . The final will not be comprehensive.
